ས་བོན་ seed, ལས་ from, / མྱུ་གུ་ sprouts, / སྐྱེ grow, །

Sprouts grow from seeds.

མྱུ་གུ་ལས་འབྲས་བུ་འཐོབ།

མྱུ་གུ་ལས་ / འབྲས་བུ་ fruit, fruition, result, / འཐོབ gain, earn, obtain, །

Fruits are earned from sprouts.

2.1 རིགས་མཐུན་པ་དགར་བ།

Excluded from same family:

 

In this function, among the two particles ནས་/ལས་, ནས་ is used, and it can be in the superlative case. With the structure; གི་ནང་ནས་ (genitive particle + ནང་ + ནས་), it is translated as ‘from among’, ‘out of all’ etc.

2.

 

དད་པ་མེད་ན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་འཇུག་སྒོ་འགགས་པ་ཡིན་པས་དད་པ་རྣམ་པ་བཞིའི་ནང་ནས་མི་ལྡོག་པའི་དད་པ་འཆང༌།

དད་པ་ faith, མེད་ not there, ན་ if - ཆོས་ Dharma, ཀྱི་ of, འཇུག་སྒོ་ entering way, - འགགས་ blocked, པ་ have, / ཡིན་ is, པས་ that’s why, < དད་པ་ faith, རྣམ་པ་ kind, form, བཞི four, འི་ནང་ནས་ from among, - མི་ལྡོག་པའི་དད་པ་ irreversible faith, / འཆང༌ bear, have, །

If there is no faith, the entrance to the Dharma is blocked. That’s why, [from] among the four kinds of faith, irreversible faith is embraced.

2.2 རིགས་མི་མཐུན་པ་དགར་བ།

Excluded from different family:

 

At this function, among the two particles ནས་/ལས་, ལས་ is used, and it can be in the comparative case, translated as ‘than’ or ‘compared to’.

1.

 

སྟག་ལས་གླང་ཆེན་གཟུགས་སྟོབས་ཆེ་བ་ཡོད།

སྟག་ tiger, ལས་ than, compared to, - གླང་ཆེན་ elephant, / གཟུགས་སྟོབས་ body strength, ཆེ་བ་ bigger, stronger, greater, / ཡོད has, is, །

An elephant is stronger in body strength than a tiger.

ཙ་བ་ཙོབ་ཏུ་ཆོས་ཀྱི་གཟུགས་བརྙན་ལ་འཇུག་སྔ་བྱེད་པ་ལས་དང་པོ་རང་རྒྱུད་ལ་ལེགས་པར་བརྟགས།

ཙ་བ་ཙོབ་ཏུ་ in rush, - ཆོས་ཀྱི་གཟུགས་བརྙན་ dharmic image/form, ལ་ into, - འཇུག་སྔ་བྱེད་པ་ engaging fast, ལས་ rather than, instead of, < དང་པོ་ first, / རང་རྒྱུད་ one’s own mind stream, ལ་ to, on, / ལེགས་པར་ nicely, excellently,     well, / བརྟགས་ examined, checked, །

Rather than engaging fast into the dharmic forms in a rush, first one’s own mind stream is checked excellently.

At this function, from the two particles ནས་/ལས་, ནས་ is used and completed by the phrase བར་དུ་ or གི་ (genitive particle) བར་དུ་ (till there);
It is translated as ‘from’:

       3.3 གྲངས་སྡུད་པ། Including up to a number

       3.4 དངོས་པོ་སྡུད་པ། Including up things
